Toad House

Toads are very helpful in the garden. They eat unwanted insects that can damage your plants. I decided to invite toads to live in my garden by building them a home.



A friend had given me several gourds that she had grown in her garden last year. I thought these would make cute toad houses.

First, drill an opening in the bottom of the gourd with a circle drill bit.

Then, remove all the seeds.

Next, paint or decorate the gourd however you wish. I decided to paint mine to look like a toad.

 

Finally, set the house in the garden and wait for renters.

Tamale Soup

1 pound cooked ground meat
2 cans tamales
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can Rotel tomatoes
2 cans pinto beans
1 can whole corn
1 can creamed corn


Unwrap tamales and cut into bite size pieces.
Add all other ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
YUM

As ranchers sell out

Zumba!

I joined a gym. Got a great rate too. It was chepaer than what I paid ten years ago, the last time I joined a gym. I quit after I got sciata and while I've exercised since then, I don't push myself the way I should.

They built an Anytime Fitness near my house, meaning I can exercise 24 hours a day if I want to and I decided to take the plunge. Yesterday, I took my first Zumba class.

They didn't have Zumba the last time I belonged to a gym. It's lots of fun and miraculously, I managed to last the whole hour. Of course, I had no idea what was going on, but I jumped around and waved my arms and had a ball.

I expected to be sore this morning, but to my surprise I was not. Maybe I'll become a Zumba girl.

Tonight, it's Max Blast, which I think is circuit cardo.  Friday, it's Yoga. Can't wait for that one.

Fresh Fiction Scores TV Coup

Gwen Reyes (@ReelVixen) will do a 4 minute segment on Good Morning Texas called Buy The Books (original, no? LOL) with their co-host Amy Vanderoef on Wednesday, May 2^nd. She’ll be talking about books with the same themes as 50 SHADES OF GREY but not hard core erotica. In other words, she’s talking ROMANCES, you know that new fiction everyone’s reading? In PUBLIC!!!!

If all goes well, and I have complete faith in Miss Gwen, she’s very good on video, why not live television in one of the country’s biggest markets? But she’s going to need our support. This will be the start of a three month try-out, after which it could be a regular feature.  And best of all, they’re allowing us to connect to FreshFiction.com where we’ll have a landing page for the viewers with a list of all the books selected and featured.

All in all, this is utterly fabulous and I’m so proud of all the work done over the years by each of you to get us to this point. As we keep saying, ‘it’s the year of Fresh Fiction!’
