Need Help

I've got a mock up of the cover of my second book in the Jubilee, Texas series. I need input. What do you think? I'm looking at color, topic, proportion, etc...And be honest!

  1. A bare chested cowboy would be nicer. Lol. I think it looks great.

  2. First of all, this is a wonderful look at the cover thus far.

I like the splash of colours. It's vivid, soft and stands out. It also reminds me of Spring/Summer so it suits its release date.

I wish the female model was more in focus. Either completely in the picture or a bit more of her profile. It's so fleeting I almost missed it. Similarly the cowboy is missing an arm and since most of him is already showing I kind of want both his arms intact. This one is a minor, but I would prefer the cowboy to be looking at his princess instead of down at the dog. I wish I can see his eyes even if it's a squint.

I like him with his shirt on. I'd rather have his muscle defined by the shirt than completely off just because it gives the story a sweet and subtle look.

Love the dog in the picture and the wide open space. Since the characters take up a lot of the cover, it's better when the landscape is kept simple.

In a nutshell, I like the colour combinations, the proportions I would prefer some more touching up on. I can't wait for this story!

  3. I like the colors and the outdoor scene. I like the little glimpse of the woman because it adds a little mystery. The cowboy should be looking at her, though. I'd like to see his other arm, too. The tight t-shirt is nice, too. I also love covers with dogs on them. (Kristan Higgins has some good ones.) For the most part, it is an eye-catching and intriguing cover!

  4. The color is soft. The t-shirt should not be white, an open shirt, denim and open showing chest. The dog looks fake and needs to be made a little larger. Need to see a little more of the cowboys face.

  5. The colors are great, but the proportions are off. The cowboy (should he be looking at her, not his dog?) and his dog need to be set back further in the scene (on a different plane than the woman), which will solve the missing arm, and also make it appear as if she is running from them/past them.

The white t-shirt doesn't do it for me--but if he's pushed back, I think it will be fine--right now it's competing too much with the title. The texture of his jeans seem a little too... shiny, maybe, and also, his feet--he looks very superimposed onto the grass.

  7. I'm late to the game. LOL. I like the cover. I like the white shirt (and the fact that there is a shirt) and I'm amused that both the cowboy AND his dog are looking at the chick as she darts off. The only thing that gave me pause was... I didn't even *see* her at first. The color of her dress, for some reason, made her "invisible" to me. I had to blink and actually scroll back up once I started reading the comments before I realized she was even there. I know they matched her dress to the font of your name, Lori, but maybe something a little bolder? Or flip the pink of the title to be the pink of the dress and the author name and use the blue for the title? {{{{squint}}} I'm trying to picture that one.

  8. Oh, another thought on the dress. Maybe add a little pattern to it? That way you don't have to change the color.

  9. Those were my same thoughts, Julie.

  10. I think we need to see a bit more muscle and maybe a denium shirt open to show off a bare chest... Oh and we need to see a bit more of the rugged handsome face.
    Just my opinion

  11. I know I am WAY late to the party but I read some really great comments so far from everyone. I really like the right t-shirt on the cowboy but would prefer a bit more of a profile so you can see his face. I like that they are out in the open.
