Old-Time Buttermilk Pie

1/2 cup butter softened
3 rounded tablespoons flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups sugar
3 eggs beaten
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Cream together sugar and butter. Add flour and eggs, beat well. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla, and nutmeg. Pour into unbaked 9" pie shell. Bake for 45 minutes at 350*.

  2. It sort of looks like an egg custard pie. I will have to try it and see if it tastes similar.

  4. Did your mother bake the butter milk pie for you when you were a child?

    I've heard an expression: "Nothing is more American as mom's apple pie." I'm not sure if it's correct word for word,though.

    1. Actually my mother does not like buttermilk pie, so she never made it for us. My grandmother made it for us and it was wonderful!
