I went to the American Library Association convention this past Sunday. What a treat meeting all those librarians. Both my parents have degrees in library science, so it was just like being at home. The talk of books was everywhere. Heaven to an author. Some of my most cherished childhood memories took place in a library.
In the spirit of spreading more library love, I'm giving away an autographed hardback copy of THE TRUE LOVE QUILTING CLUB. If you'd to get on this week's giveaway, just post a comment here.
Happy Tuesday,
Lori

ReplyDeleteI would love to win a hardback copy of it!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome, I love libraries especially the smell of all those books. It is so sad to see so many libraries struggling and some even closing. I have had a library card where ever I have lived for 40 years, I can't imagine not having one nearby.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! I would love to visit!!! I bet it was exciting!!

ReplyDeleteSO love libraries, especially the huge ones where you could get lost and never found again. The smell of books just is one of the best out there. Thanks for the great giveaway, Lori.

I love that I am passing along my passion for reading to my first grader, who lives for "library day" at school.

Heehee.... our 4-year-old grand daughter came home from pre-school the other day asking, "Grandma, can we go to the library?" Naturally we had to go right NOW! Once at the library she took off at 4-year-old speed and made a direct line for *her* books. These turned out to be "That's Not My ... " books. We took seven of them home with us. Evelyn
ReplyDeleteIt would be a crime for the world not to have libraries. One of my fondest memories in Elementary school was spending time in the library. It was there I found Judy Blume for the first time and since then I've always looked forward to the next book.
ReplyDeleteLove the library! And would love to win a copy of The True Love Quilting Club! :)

I made a little library for myself (well, a carpenter did it). Took the sliding doors off a closet and had shelves built inside. It's lovely.

I love my libraries. I live in a very small town and have 3 other towns near me that have libraries. I visit all 3 of them. I am a huge reader and can't afford to buy a lot of books and only have so much room once I purchase them. I will visit one library for awhile, then skip around to the other 2 smaller ones. By the time I have read a lot of their books, than the other library will have new stuff. I also give old books for them to sell and put on their shelves. I also give out extra book marks to them. I also was asked to be in Lisa Kleypas book group and she sent us books. I donated to a couple of the libraries and now patrons can check out these books.
ReplyDeleteI also participate in the book sales that they have. I love well worn and read books, that is how you know it is a good book.

The apptitude test I took in high school in the career center, said I should be a librarian. I didn't listen, but I think it was right. I love libraries, old book stores, all things book related. Our small town is getting a new library, it's going to be in the center of town and really BE the center of town. The conference sounds like a real treat.
ReplyDeleteBoth parents with library science degrees? How couldn't you grow up to become an author? :) I'm so glad I love in an area with a plentiful selection of fabulous libraries to visit.
ReplyDeleteI love libraries! I think all children should be read to everyday from the time they can hold their heads up! Get them interested in books at a very young age so they will always love them! Thanks for the giveaway Lori!
ReplyDeleteI had thought at one time becoming a librarian, but i can't remember for the life of me why I didn't pursue this... Probably was just spending the time reading....I loved the library and still do to this day..
ReplyDeleteLibraries and book stores are two of my favorite places to go and wander around in. I love getting lost in the stacks and just read all the jackets. Everyone knows that when I go to the library I could be gone for quite a bit of time!
ReplyDeleteNo need to enter my name in this contest. I just wanted to mention that I share your love of libraries...and bookstores!
ReplyDeleteI am on the board of the local Friends of the Libary.

I love libraries! Every week, my kids and I make a trek to our local branch. Without a doubt, it's my favorite time of the week. Not just because we leave with a bag of books, but because it's a chance for me to connect with each of them. I never fail to be amazed by the discussions that are started from the simple "What about the book did you like/not like?"
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win such a great book. Keeping my fingers crossed! :)
