small towns, from what i know of them having lived in one my whole life, is the neighbors help each other out in time of need. say you're hospitalized for a few days, the neighbor would mow the lawn for a few weeks for you til they noticed you were back outside again. it's just a 'gimmie'

Can't wait love these books about small communities
ReplyDeleteI've lived in a small town all my life and am quite content with it. Folks take care of each other and support one another in any way they can. I grew up spending summers at my grandmother's house in a town of 300. Many memories of that! There is nothing like a small town. Cars still pull over when a funeral procession goes by out of respect.

Lori, thanks for giving away a copy of my book! Just wanted to remind your readers that I'm giving away a copy, too, and that they can register for a second chance at the book by going to yesterday's guest blog.
ReplyDeleteI wish that I lived in a small town. I think life would be a bit simplier...and quiet!!

I love that everyone knows everyone. They look out for each other.
ReplyDeleteI grew up just outside a very small town. I distinctly remember when my sister & her friend were about to leave for a school-group trip to England. The night before they were scheduled to leave, the friend's house burned down. People immediately gave her clothes, money, suitcases, got her ticket replaced, got her passport replaced & found someone for her to stay with in NY until the passport arrived. The way people rally during a crisis is my favorite thing about small towns.

Love small towns because even though they may seem like in you business they are truly just trying to look out for every one there. The closeness of those small towns can't be beat. Thy are usually willing to help any one they know.
ReplyDeleteI like small towns because people get to know your family and help watch your back. I like walking into stores and being recognized. Plus it seems to me that people are more friendlier and nicer.
ReplyDeleteI love small town stories because the community really seems to come alive. I like meeting the different types of personalities and seeing how they interact with the main characters. It's a small, fun world to visit.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I love to go to small towns when traveling. We like to visit their usually quaint downtowns and shopping areas. The people are always friendlier and helpful.
ReplyDeleteI love small towns. Especially since I live in one! Think it was a better advantage to our kids while in school. Smaller classrooms and more attention by teachers. Also a much better feeling of community than a large city would have. Easier to get involved with activities and working in retail, you are usually helping out friends and neighbors.

I have always lived in large cities. So, several years ago when I dated a man that lived in a small town, I found I wasn't quite prepared for the differences in large city-small town life. Occasionally when I went to visit him, we would eat in the only restaurant nearby, which was a BBQ place. After a few visits, I knew everyone, and they knew me. You don't get that kind of friendship everywhere. You also don't get that kind of gossip everywhere. I quickly learned I can find out everyone's business. I don't think it is possible to have secrets in small towns. To bad the relationship didn't last, or maybe it is good?

I love small towns because it really is a small community that somehow makes a family. I had that a few years ago when I lived in Columbia and it had a good homey feel to it. You could catch up with people at the grocery store or at the hardware store and communicated with each other than on the computer. I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteI've never lived in a small town, but I like the idea of knowing everyone and running into people you know when you are doing errands and things. On the other hand, I can see where that might be a bit of a bother also.
ReplyDeleteI love small towns the piece and quite and at nights you can look up at the sky full of stars, talk to your neighbors who you can trust. barbeques where everyone comes out to have lunch or dinner where all the kids play! And in the evenings taking long walks around a couple of blocks. Not any more we're stuck in the big city where you stay in at nights or you'll get mugged ugh! I do not like the big city I'm just a old country girl!
ReplyDeleteSo give me the small towns any time!

Small towns are wonderful. I was raised in one in Illinois. Then we moved to another one in southern illinois. There is nothing like living somewhere that you never lock your doors. The keys were rarely out of my cars. We actually came home from vacation once to find our door standing wide open. Only to discover that the last person out knew they had not closed it but forgot! LOL I always loved knowing people. I miss it so much!
ReplyDeleteHope I am not too late!
ReplyDeleteSmall towns hold my entire heart. I love the sense of community is amazing. Growing up, I lived in a town of 3,000 and we did so much together... ball tournaments, snow forts, and Trick or Treating. You never worried about strangers and were always smiling.
In the search for a small town, I actually uprooted my family from British Columbia to a country town in Ontario. It has been amazing!
Thanks Lori!! xx
I've never lived in a small town but they seem like they are less impersonal than larger towns and that you would feel like you are part of a community.
ReplyDeleteI like how people are friendly.
